The rest being commercials and station breaks. My math says 6 hours 15 minutes = 375 minutes 26 episodes * 12 minutes = 312 minutes or no editing at all 26 episodes * 15 minutes = 390 or possibly a grand total of 15 minutes edited out of 26 episodes. I tend to believe the only editing that took place was the removal of the commercials. Maybe before making such statements, our critic should do some homework on just exactly how much of a sitcom is actually aired in a 30 minute time slot. He says 'If the total running time listed is correct'. Sounds like he made his review based on what he could remember from the actual show. -- more pix @ http://members.toast.net/cbminfo/index.html From boogaloo at meltv.com Fri Aug 3 19:16:08 2007 From: boogaloo at meltv.com (boogaloo) Date: Fri, 03 Aug 2007 12:16:08 -0700 Subject: [clarissa] Clarissa Digest, Vol 7, Issue 2 In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <46B37EF8.1050505@meltv.com> Actual network airtime for a sitcom is 22:30; when it goes into syndication it is either run through a process that speeds up the playback and then equalizes the audio so that another minute is harvested or they actually cut down the show by a minute. The commercials don't become part of the aired program until a few hours before it goes to air when the tape goes through "commercial integration" which integrates all the commercials aired by the network into previously 2:00 black slugs between the program segments. That might include network promotional material and public service announcements rideing under the positions given to the local station to cover that position if that station doesn't breakaway from the satellite feed. The local station then has the last 2:10 after the credits and a network promotional piece that follows the credits. Usually, when programs go to video and DVD they are in the original form as they aired on network and not the modified syndication/cable version. I haven't seen these packages, but my guess is with all the menuing googah and other added stuff this is going to be more like 580 minutes or so. No, no. That's way too short. More like 22 minutes (in the U.S., anyway). Amazon.com is saying 555 minutes (or about 21:21 per episode) for the second season: And 528 minutes (for 24 episodes, or exactly 22 minutes per episode) for the first season: Unfortunately, Amazon also notes, for the second season set, that the "Music has been changed for this home entertainment version". [...] The idea for the video began as a whim from [lead singer Alex] Feder. "I literally just came up with the general idea to have Nickelodeon stars," he said. "We just asked friends who work in the entertainment industry. We basically just explained that we are an independent band and that we wanted to make a music video featuring the stars of the shows we grew up with, and they said yes." The band also got its start through Feder, who formed the group while studying at NYU. [...] As for the slime? The music video incorporates the iconic ooze that defined childhood entertainment of this generation. The band made their homemade slime from cream of wheat, oatmeal, corn starch, water and green food coloring. "The day of the shoot, we asked Marc Summers what the official 'Double Dare' recipe was, and he told us they used apple sauce, vanilla pudding, water and food coloring," said Feder. "Oh well, ours worked fine."
