Actual network airtime for a sitcom is 22:30; when it goes into
syndication it is either run through a process that speeds up the
playback and then equalizes the audio so that another minute is
harvested or they actually cut down the show by a minute. The
commercials don't become part of the aired program until a few hours
before it goes to air when the tape goes through "commercial
integration" which integrates all the commercials aired by the network
into previously 2:00 black slugs between the program segments. That
might include network promotional material and public service
announcements rideing under the positions given to the local station to
cover that position if that station doesn't breakaway from the satellite
feed. The local station then has the last 2:10 after the credits and a
network promotional piece that follows the credits. Usually, when
programs go to video and DVD they are in the original form as they aired
on network and not the modified syndication/cable version. I haven't
seen these packages, but my guess is with all the menuing googah and
other added stuff this is going to be more like 580 minutes or so. Check
a reliable source like the distrbutors website!

>Maybe before making such statements, our critic should do some homework on just exactly how much of a sitcom is actually aired in a 30 minute time slot.
>He says 'If the total running time listed is correct'. Sounds like he made his review based on what he could remember from the actual show.
